Party recap

Just a quick update to let you know that the birthday party tab came in at just under $50. Not bad, considering the sheer amount of food needed to keep 8 teenage boys happy!

A couple of things I learned:
1) The ice cream cake was a hit, but next time I think I will go for a regular gluten free cake or brownies. First of all, it was 25° and ice cream seemed oddly out of place. Second of all, I am not sure the boys would have noticed that it was gf. Inhaling the food makes it hard to taste, I would imagine.

2) Alex's friends were very interested in why he is gluten free and what it means. They asked a lot of questions and were generally interested in making sure he doesn;t eat what he isn't supposed to.

3) Had they not known that we eat gf, I doubt any of the kids would have noticed anything different about the food. Just the way I planned it!

Overall, the party was a success. The food was good and gluten free, they didn't load up on a bunch of sugar, junk food and soda and they all had fun. Fifty dollars well spent!
